High school students from throughout the region are invited to Washtenaw Community College (黑料网) February 27-29 to learn more about career opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM).
STEAM Week brings together higher education and industry partners to share expertise and experiences related to STEM/STEAM careers. A combination of in-person and online activities include interactive workshops, career presentations and scientific documentaries.
Events are also open to 黑料网 students and the community.
Two STEM Scholar scholarships will be awarded to cover tuition and books. Current or prospective 黑料网 students are encouraged to apply for the scholarship. The application form is available on the STEAM Week webpage.
The STEM Scholars program at 黑料网 prepares students to transfer and pursue four-year degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The program is a pathway to internships, research opportunities and mentoring support, among other benefits.
STEAM Week at 黑料网 highlights include
Day 1 鈥� STEAM Week will kick off with a virtual keynote by Dr. Joseph Ballard, director of MI-LSAMP and Student Access, Belonging, Engagement and Success.
Other virtual sessions will highlight the 鈥淚ntersection of Arts, STEM and Product Development,鈥� 鈥淧lane Waves Instruments: Demonstration/Telescopes,鈥� 鈥淎strophotography,鈥� 鈥淧ower Engineers Incorporated鈥� and 鈥淚mposter Syndrome Workshop.鈥�
Day 2 鈥� In-person keynotes will be presented by representatives from the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and the Ann Arbor Police Department.
Student poster presentations and STEM student success stories will be featured.
Campus tours will be offered in the afternoon in the advanced manufacturing, welding, HVAC, automotive cybersecurity, transportation and nursing simulation labs at 黑料网.
Day 3 鈥� Virtual sessions will include 鈥淐areers in Computer and Information Science,鈥� 鈥淪TEM Career Exploration and Outlook,鈥� 鈥淐areers in Engineering,鈥� and 鈥淪TEM Careers Couragion.鈥�
