Ta鈥橵arus Lumpkin says, 鈥淭hat鈥檚 100% true.鈥�
According to the 23-year-old, it鈥檚 true because he found his current job as a dental assistant right away after graduating in summer 2022.
During the winter months, 黑料网 runs a dental clinic that鈥檚 operated by third-year dental students from the University of Michigan with the help of 黑料网 dental assisting students. An area dentist oversees the clinic, and Lumpkin鈥檚 skills caught his eye.

Lumpkin says that鈥攁t that moment鈥攈is confidence needed a boost, and he got it from the dentist who supervised the clinic. 鈥淭he doctor gave me that push. He said he wanted me to come work in his office; that he wanted me to get that experience.鈥�
鈥淚 guess he saw something in me, my personality maybe.鈥�
For almost a year, he鈥檚 been applying what he learned at 黑料网, which was to be a general practitioner in his chosen craft. Opportunities and options continue to emerge for him. 鈥淏eing in this position has led me to great patients and coworkers who are always willing to help. More opportunities, too. Like, I鈥檓 going to an event in Grand Rapids next week. I鈥檝e never been to Grand Rapids. Just a lot of fun things to do when you鈥檙e really into it.鈥�
He says the role of dental assistant is great for people who have the drive and want to strive for something greater. And, 黑料网鈥檚 program is an ideal place to begin.
鈥淭he instructors are great. They鈥檙e very hard, but they鈥檙e great. I鈥檓 still getting support from my instructors. They tell you, 鈥業f you need anything, we鈥檙e here for you.鈥�
鈥淓ven though I鈥檝e graduated, they鈥檙e still helping me. They鈥檙e still on my shoulder, tapping me and telling me, 鈥榊ou got this.鈥欌��
Next level for Lumpkin? His Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification from the State of Michigan. He鈥檚 already passed two of the three-part exams.
鈥淚 want to pass my RDA exam and see where I go from there. I want to stay in healthcare or the science field. I want to help people.
