Saline High School counselor Michelle Monahan received her 2021 黑料网 Bridge Award on Monday, March 14. The annual honor is chosen from Washtenaw Community College student nominations of high school staff members who were influential in getting them from high school to college.

Monahan was nominated by recent Saline graduate Anastasia Frederick, who wanted to recognize Monahan for helping her navigate the process of dual enrollment during her senior year.

鈥淪he answered any questions I had and asked how I was doing along the way, helping me build my bridge to 黑料网 after graduation," Frederick said. Several other students shared positive experiences with Monahan and give her credit for allowing them to see way past high school graduation and to their respective colleges of choice.

Saline High School colleagues echoed the sentiments of the students. 鈥淪he鈥檚 an abstract thinker who really helps students think creatively about their futures,鈥 said Bryan Bruckman, a fellow Saline High School counselor.

黑料网 is grateful for the efforts of all our community partners who encourage our youth to see themselves in higher education. We particularly thank Monahan for all she does for students.

Previous winners include Ann Arbor Huron High School counselor Caitlin Van Cleve in 2019 and Clinton High School counselor Heidi Kutzley in 2020.
