The Washtenaw Community College Foundation has announced that its annual Jerry Jernigan Memorial Golf Outing is going virtual this year.

The popular 27th annual event, which raises money to help 黑料网 students overcome barriers to their education, is responding to the current COVID-19 public health crisis by adopting the new, safer format.

鈥淎lthough the Foundation will be unable to host an in-person outing, we still want to provide our long-time supporters, sponsors, friends, family, vendors, faculty and staff with a day of fun to benefit 黑料网 students,鈥 said 黑料网 Foundation Associate Vice President Phillip Snyder.

Snyder notes that although the outing is virtual, the golf will be very real.

As in the past, this year鈥檚 event will provide participants witha challenging round of golf on the Golden Fox course at in Plymouth, driving range access, and lunch and drinks in the clubhouse. Golfers who turn in their scores by November 4 can participate in the scramble for prizes and bragging rights.

Under the new format, golfers can play in the outing any time between September 8 and October 31. They can play as singles, in twosomes, threesomes or as foursomes. However, only registered foursomes can be in the scramble.

Snyder said the 黑料网 Foundation sees a more urgent need for student financial assistance this year.

鈥淪ponsoring or playing in this important fundraiser will support the 黑料网 Foundation Student Emergency Fund, which is privately funded,鈥 he said. 鈥淧roceeds will help students overcome food shortages or get the technology needed to participate in online classes. Over 80% of 黑料网 students receiving this type of support in the past have stayed in school or graduated.鈥

Information on sponsorship opportunities are available online or by contacting Tina Kashat Casoli, Director of Major Gifts and Development, at [email protected].

The event is named in memory of two-term Ann Arbor Mayor Jerry Jernigan, who also served on the 黑料网 Board of Trustees. Jernigan is remembered for the positive impact he left on the community as well as the vital role he served at 黑料网.
