An appearance by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, the pediatrician responsible for exposing
the Flint water crisis, highlights a series of free, open-to-the-public Women鈥檚 History
Month events at Washtenaw Community College during March.
鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to welcome Dr. Hanna-Attisha to the 黑料网 campus to share her important message, which is as much about the power of personal advocacy as it is the quest for social justice,鈥 said 黑料网 President Dr. Rose B. Bellanca. 鈥淲e also can鈥檛 think of a better person to kick off our Women鈥檚 History Month series than Dr. Hanna-Attisha, who is among the latest in a long line of women who鈥檝e made great contributions to our nation.鈥
A recent inductee into the Michigan Women鈥檚 Hall of Fame, Hanna-Attisha will discuss her dramatic professional role in researching and revealing the lead levels in the children of Flint; along with her inspiring personal story of being an immigrant, doctor and health advocate raised by a family rooted in social justice activism. Both topics are covered extensively in her award-winning book, .
The Hanna-Attisha lecture will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6 in the Towsley Auditorium inside the Morris Lawrence Building (see campus map). Registration is not required.
